Cancer Causing Premature Deaths | TopNews United States

We all grieve over the sudden death of our loved ones. But have you ever tried to know what is causing the sudden death of people. A recent research has found that 40% of the deaths occurring prematurely result from cancer.

Cancer is the most deadly disease in the whole world. Any person irrespective of age and sex is vulnerable to developing cancer. There are various types of cancer like lung cancer, cervical cancer, prostate cancer, brain cancer and many more. In most of the cases, faulty lifestyle triggers cancer. For example a person with sedentary lifestyle is at higher risk of developing prostate cancer. Similarly, a person with unhealthy lifestyle is at the risk of developing lung cancer.

It has been found that majority of premature deaths occurs due to lethal lung cancer. According to the data revealed by the Cancer Research UK, lung cancer accounts to deaths of about 35,000 people every year. Next to lung cancer, bowel cancer and breast cancer cause 16,000 and 11,700 deaths, respectively.

There is no doubt that with the advancement in treatment of cancer, mortality rate has reduced significantly but there is still a need to tackle with the premature deaths occurring due to cancer. Professor Peter Johnson from Cancer Research UK said, "We have had great success in reducing the death rate from many types of cancer in the last decade. But far too many people are still dying from this devastating disease and we clearly have much more work to do".

Acknowledging the findings of the research, the Department of Health noted that addition funding of ?750 million is required to be made in the coming four years so that people could be diagnosed with cancer at an early stage. Early diagnosis will no doubt help in preventing premature deaths.
