Viola Davis and husband Julius Tennon, who recently welcomed a daughter to their family through adoption, snuck in a little couple's time on Saturday night and though baby Genesis was at home for the evening, the new parents couldn't contain their pride over their bundle of joy.

"She's awesome. I mean, I know every parent says their child is awesome, but she's awesome," "The Help" star told Access Hollywood at the 2011 Governors Awards in Los Angeles, where James Earl Jones, makeup artist Dick Smith and Oprah Winfrey were honored by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.

"Yeah, she's really fantastic," Julius added.

Viola confessed she finds it difficult to spend time away from her daughter, who already knows exactly how to play on her emotions.

"She's so pretty and she [says], 'Mama, I'm your baby!' That's how she says it," Viola said, explaining her daughter's strategy to try to get mom to stay home.

While the couple is loving parenthood, the actress revealed she and Julius keep their relationship strong by making time together a priority.

"We have a lot of date nights," she told Access. "Even being with the baby's a date night."

"That's right. Baby goes to sleep at eight o'clock -- it's date night at home," Julius agreed.

With the Oscars fast approaching, Viola - who has been the subject of plenty of nomination buzz for her moving performance in "The Help" - said that when it comes to red carpet fashion, she'll leave it up to the experts.

"Oh my God, I do not look for style," she said, when asked if she'd been scouring magazines for style ideas. "I let someone else do that! That would be a sensory overload."

Adding, "It's so nerve-wracking. I wish people could be in my shoes -- you know, what you imagine it to be and what it actually is. It's just very nerve-wracking."
