WASHINGTON (Reuters) ? United Launch Alliance, a joint venture of Lockheed Martin Corp and Boeing Co, has won a $1.1 billion U.S. Air Force contract for work on the Evolved Expendable Launch Vehicle Program, the Defense Department said on Thursday.
The work is to be carried out from July 1, 2011, through September 30, 2012, the Pentagon's daily contract digest said. The program is meant to provide access to space for Defense Department and other U.S. government payloads.
